Zohran Mamdani is projected to be the subsequent mayor of New York City.
Following the closing of polls at 9 p.m. ET, CBS News projected Mamdani because the winner of the mayoral race, making him the town’s 111th mayor. The 34-year-old gained the race with a projected 50.5% of the vote on the time of writing, with voter turnout surpassing 2 million — the very best since 1969.
