Skincare In Your 20s: 12 Dermatologist-Approved Tips

Follow a Simple Skincare Routine

Though correct skincare regimes fluctuate from individual to individual, we tapped Brooke Jeffy, MDa board-certified dermatologist and founding father of the youth skincare model BTWN, to share a easy routine that can work for most individuals of their twenties. Her advisable steps are under.

Step 1: “Cleanse morning and night with a product based on your skin type,” Dr. Jeffy says. “At evening, I like to recommend a double cleanse to make certain all make-up and sunscreen are eliminated and the pores and skin is prepared for any focused remedies whilst you sleep. I really like Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water for regular to oily pores and skin and the Cerave Makeup Removing Cleanser Balm if dry.

Step 2: “Exfoliate mindfully and carefully with the goal of removing dead skin cells but not destroying your skin barrier,” Jeffy cautions. “Choose a gentle exfoliating product like Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 6% Mandelic Acid  + 2 % Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant or Eight Saints Soulmate Brightening Treatment & AHA Exfoliator.”

Step 3: Treat your concern. “If your skin is dry, focus on hydration with products like LaRoche Posay Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum — or give Corsx Snail Mucin a try,” Jeffy suggests. “If you are worried about pigmentation, look for brightening products that contain ingredients like vitamin C, tranexamic acid, and kojic acid. For wrinkle prevention, mid-to-late 20s is the earliest I would consider using a retinol or if you have more sensitive skin, look for bakuchiol.”

Step 4: Moisturize. “If you tend to be dry, grab lotions and creams like Vanicream Daily Facial Lotion. If you tend to be acne-prone or oily, try a gel moisturizer like Face Reality Hydrabalance.”

Step 5: Use SPF. “This is the most important step to keep your skin free of brown spots and wrinkles. And prevent skin cancer by the way,” Jeffy notes. (*12*)
