Shakira says the timing couldn’t be higher for Bad Bunny to take the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show stage.
While talking to Varietythe Colombian music icon, who co-headlined the 2020 halftime present alongside Jennifer Lopez, was requested about the Puerto Rican rapper’s upcoming efficiency.
“It’s about time!” Shakira informed Thania Garcia about the three-time Grammy winner. “I keep in mind once we did ours that even having a part of our set in Spanish was a daring transfer. Acceptance of Spanish-language music as a part of the mainstream has come so removed from after I began.”
She said she hoped English speakers’ “resistance” and “puzzlement” to her own music helped make the way for other Latin artists.
“I’m so proud that Bad Bunny, who represents not only Latin culture but also how important Spanish language music has become on a global scale and how universal it has become, is getting to perform on the biggest stage in the world,” the singer continued. “It’s the perfect moment for a performance like this. I can’t wait to watch it.”
Bad Bunny is no stranger to the halftime show stage. He was brought out as a surprise guest performer during the 2020 performance for an excerpt of his verse from Cardi B’s “I Like It” and later a mashup of his hit “Callaíta” against Shakira’s “Chantaje.”
