Optima Titanium Hair System Review
Hair loss for men is an affliction that severely damages confidence and self-esteem. The miracle cures and medical treatments invariably do very little to reverse the process. Fortunately, in recent years, advancements in hair system technology have allowed men to restore their confidence in their appearance. Optima Hair is at the forefront of this revolution with its Titanium design, which I will discuss further in my latest review.
Optima was founded in 2003 by Pete Murtha and Karen Evens in Birmingham, UK, with a focus on creating a company that offers a more understanding and compassionate hair replacement experience for individuals suffering from hair loss. Optima has grown from strength to strength over the last 20 years, thanks to a blend of drive, determination, and exceptional customer service.

My Own Hair Loss Story
I started losing my hair around age 20and it was something considered normal (my Dad had lost the majority of his hair long ago, and I knew I was going to follow suit) among my peers. The idea of anti-hair loss products or wigs was considered only for vain men, trying to hold onto their youth (even though I was only young myself).
For years (during my clubbing era!), I mostly just shaved my head (number 2 was my go-to) and headed out the door. Roll on 15 years later, and everything changed. I left my job at the local printing company and fell into online marketing, then launched my own blog and social media accounts. For a handful of years, I sported the shaven-head look, but I was already starting to consider other options to enhance my image (and thus my confidence).
I began my journey by browsing online for ‘solutions’ to my hair loss problem, and I discovered a handful of options around the Birmingham area.
My First Hair System
Typically (which in retrospect was a bad move), I chose an establishment (which will remain ‘nameless’) that was close to home (to save a small amount of time on travel), I made an appointment, placed the order and waited.
My ‘system’ arrived a handful of months later, and I was booked in for a fitting. As I had no frame of reference, I assumed that how I was treated and the process was ‘normal’ – how wrong I was! The hair looked ok, and it was a massive difference compared to my previous bald style! But there wasn’t something amiss.

I stayed with this company for a few months (largely out of loyalty); however, I started to look elsewhere, and after a short browse online, I found my saviour – Optima Hair Specialists.
After booking a consultation and setting foot through the door, I was blown away by the difference (literally night and day). Everything, from the location to the friendliness of the staff and the decor, was a significant improvement. I met Pete (super friendly and inviting), and he shared his own story with me, along with discussing various options available, and I was sold! I placed my order and waited patiently for my new system.
Once it arrived and was fitted, I couldn’t believe how great my new hair looked on my head – the quality was absolutely unreal (especially compared to my first foray into the world of hair systems). I have been a loyal customer of Optima ever since, even trying out different styles from time to time (from short to longer and even curly!).

This model has been designed exclusively by Pete with the help of Jeff, who is a hair system guru based in the US (who has been involved in the industry for over 60 years).
On these new models, each strand is individually bleached to disguise the hair against the skin system base. Once upon a time, it was considered almost impossible to achieve, but Pete and his team have managed to perfect the process!
This system is what I will be discussing in my latest review, sharing my thoughts on the fitting, quality, and my experience with the new design two months later.

The fitting process at Optima is a fantastic experience (as an estimate, this would be my 5th or 6th new system). You feel totally relaxed, comfortable and in safe hands. Dale was the man tasked with fitting my new system (check him out in some of the photos), undoubtedly boasting a quality skill set for the fitting process, a top-tier hairstylist, and a great bloke to boot!
To start, your older unit is removed (unless you are a first timer) and then kept in your own personal storage box (for a backup in case of an emergency). Your head is washed, cleaned and shaved, with the sides left (albeit trimmed to your preference), glue is added to the top of your head (which has been pre-patch tested on your skin, in case of any allergies) and then left to set.
(I also request that my remaining own hair is dyed as well, to camouflage any unsightly grey strands.)
Once the glue has set, it’s time to install the new system. It’s laid across your head carefully, pressed, and held firm for a handful of minutes to ensure it’s secure, so it’s strong against all manner of activities and weather conditions.

Cut & Style
The hair on the unit arrives long, allowing it to be trimmed to your individual preference. After the installation, the next step is for your chosen stylist (in this case, Dale) to cut and style your new hair to your desired look.
I opted for a slightly longer length, with a fringe that is brushed to the side (a critical point to remember is that a brand new system needs time to settle, so it is good practice to leave it a little longer during the first cut). Quality
There is no doubt the quality of the titanium system is extraordinary – the hair feels soft to the touch, and glides through your fingers (even a quick head shake shows how the hair playfully moves around with ease).
The base of the system features a higher level of quality as well, ensuring that the hairs are secured firmly, so you lose fewer strands with combing, washing, and throughout a typical day.
With my traditional systems, I always noticed a loss of hair strands during regular wear (especially brushing), but the Titanium model is a different ball game. I have barely seen any falling strands, much less any hair accumulating within the teeth of the comb.

Thoughts Two Months Later
From experience, the true appearance of your new hair system only becomes apparent after at least four weeks. For the purpose of concluding my review, I will share my thoughts after two months.
Initially, my brand-new hair looked very different from my usual style – more flowing, with a front swoop that created a unique appearance. After a handful of washes and my first refusion (the process in which Optima removes the unit, cleans it, washes it, and re-installs it), I discovered that the system settled much more naturally on the top of my head. The dramatic swoop had dropped out considerably, and it enjoyed an increased level of volume.
One month later, we headed to Rhodes, Greece, for a vacation (the blistering heat would definitely be the ultimate test for the new hair system!). After a whole week spent bathing in the blistering heat and enjoying frequent dips in our private poolthe hair still looked perfect (Just in need of a quick re-style to regain its good looks!). Even after landing back in the UK, my hair looked tip-top and the glue was holding firm (despite the hot weather!).
Two months later, and I am more than happy with the Titanium hair system – it hasn’t lost any of its allure, and still looks pretty much brand new! Regardless of the weather, location, and activities, the unit has held strong, retaining its attractive look (which you can see in the array of photos scattered throughout the article).
