Kid Cudi says he has found “complete, total peace” in his life, thanks largely to love and marriage.
The 41-year-old rapper and author, who recently released Cudi: The Memoirtold People that his world feels transformed less than three months after marrying designer Lola Abecassis Sartore, 30.
“I got a homie that’s going to be there for me, [who] ain’t going to leave me alone,” he told the magazine. “No matter where we are on the planet, she’ll be here. I’ll be there. We’re halfway across the country from each other and I still know that I could call her, that I can connect with her, that she’ll be there for me if I ever have a moment of weakness. If I ever need some help, she’ll lift me up.
“So I think that’s the illest part about the whole thing. I mean, of course, there’s so many awesome things that come with marriage, but I think the biggest thing is that I got a homie with me now.”
That feeling is in contrast to the feelings of solitude Cudi shared in his memoir, where he recalled spending his weekends “smoking all day long, not talking to nobody.”
“The best thing is knowing I don’t have to go through shit by myself no more,” he added. “I got a homie now permanently in my life that’s going to be there for me and uplift me when I need it. And I’m going to be the same for her.”
Cudi also said that his secret to a happy relationship has been to “live with love.”
“If you love and respect your partner, it should be pretty easy. It’s that simple. And if you found the right person, it should be easy,” he explained. “Of course, you’re going to bump heads sometimes. And there’s no way you’re going to live in a house with someone every day, you know what I’m saying? Morning and night… Y’all going to bump heads, but it’s just about you get through it.”
The two tied the knot on June 28 in the South of France. Sartore described the ceremony to Vogue as “bliss” and the “purest moment.” It also paid tribute to Cudi’ s late buddy Virgil Abloh, whose 2018 Louis Vuitton program is where the pair initially fulfilled. Sartore was functioning behind the scenes of the occasion as Cudi strolled the path.
Alongside the narrative, Cudi launched his 11th workshop cd, Free both of which display his trip from maturing in Cleveland to ending up being a multi-platinum musician and currently a partner and daddy.
” I wish it offers [fans] some wish that you do appear beyond and right into the light and God places us with points since he desires to show us something,” the rapper said of his memoir. “It’s constantly a lesson therein, constantly. Even if it does not appear like maybe feasible, since in the minute, whatever simply appears like all is shed, you understand what I indicate? But if you truly consider it, whatever takes place for a factor.”
