Heritage British model Belstaff has joined forces with cult menswear designer Nigel Cabourn on three standout limited-edition jackets, which take a daring spin on clothes from Belstaff’s wealthy archive.
Cabourn is understood for his love of classic items and is usually impressed by archival army gear when creating his distinctive outerwear. That made Belstaff “a natural fit for the brand”, with its legacy of outerwear excellence and wealthy archive spanning simply over 100 years.
The ‘Coastal Commander Jacket’, priced at £2,050, injects a pop of color right into a traditional aviator shearling, whereas the ‘Derwent Trialmaster’ (£675) reissues an iconic Belstaff waxed cotton out of doors jacket in vibrant burnt orange.
Third up is the waxed cotton ‘Trialmaster Tribute’ jacket (£575) in a customized camouflage print developed by Nigel Cabourn – bringing his distinctive design DNA to certainly one of Belstaff’s most pivotal archival items.
Cabourn mentioned: “This an ideal match for me as Belstaff was certainly one of my very early influences in outerwear. The limited-edition assortment is now accessible on the Belstaff web site and at its shops at 203 Regent Street in London and 48 King Street in Manchester.
Last month, Belstaff added a 2,259 sq ft retailer at Victoria Leeds to its UK retail portfolio.
In August, it was revealed that premium British sportswear model Castore acquired 100% of Belstaff with the goal “to accelerate international growth”.
However, a twist within the transaction noticed Belstaff’s then guardian firm, INEOS, make “a significant strategic investment” in Castore at holding firm stage.
