Chappell Roan took aim at ICE at her recent Los Angeles-area concert.

On Friday night (Oct. 10), the 27-year-old singer found an opportunity to speak candidly about her love for Los Angeles and to criticize the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The moment took place during her Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things Tour stop at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California

“L.A. is my favorite city in the world, to be honest … In my opinion, Los Angeles is the best city in the world,” Roan told the crowd, as seen in the video linked below, adding that she once lived in Altadena. “I’ve been living here for 9 years, I’m originally from Missouri and I had a really, really tough time the first five years.”

She continued, “I loved LA more than everything when I saw how the community came together in Altadena to help and seeing with the Palisades.. and I just realized that I’m so lucky to be able to live here and play here and this city has taken care of me and it’s only my duty to take care of it back so I just wanna thank you, and that—I don’t know, fuck ICE forever. Fuck ICE, yeah.”

Her speech prompted a brief but loud “Fuck ICE” chant from the crowd.

The Grammy winner closed her speech with a final message, “I love you, I love the queer community, thank you for being here.”

In response to her anti-ICE comments, Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary for public affairs Tricia McLaughlin told TMZ“‘Pink Pony Club’ is sweet. Pedophiles are dangerous. That’s who we’re getting off our streets. Get a grip.”
