For this reason, a benefit gala of the Franca Fund is aligned

“The close connection that I had to my mother – and the fact that she was a large part of her life was single parent and then had to go so early – sparked the desire to do something to commemorate her,” says Carrozzini to Vogue. The finding of a rare lung cancer brought him to the research of the Harvard Medicine Genetician Dr. Robert E. Green, in the hope of healing. But Sozzi’s illness was already too advanced, and so it died at the end of 2016. Since the start of 2018 at the Harvard Medical School and Mass General Brigham, the fund, among other things, has spent donations, among other things, through the exhibition and sale of pieces from Sozzani’s wardrobe, a Zara collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts with photographs by Peter Lindbergh and an award dinner, in which Julianne Moore, Salma Hayek and Iman were already honored. Nevertheless, he often thought: “That is not enough, we need something bigger,” said Carrozzini. This gave rise to the idea for the “Franca Fund Gala”, which was finally developed in collaboration with Sheikha al Mayassa.

“I wanted to do something with someone who understands my mother’s values and their commitment to art and fashion,” explains Carrozzini. During his lifetime, SOzzani and Sheikha Al Mayassa combined a friendship based on these common interests. According to Carrozzini, the chairwoman of the Qatar Museum and co-chair of the “Fashion Trust Arabia” offered “generously aligning the gala”.

The evening is created in cooperation with the Qatarian cultural center “M7”, a place for innovation and entrepreneurship in the areas of design, fashion and technology. Follow more details on the guest list, venue, dress code and entertainment. But the mission is already clear, says Carrozzini: “To promote research – and to honor a woman who was something very special for so many people.”
