Kid Cudi joined the TikTok development for his “Maui Wowie” music, collaborating within the problem to rejoice it.
The rapper posted a video of himself hanging from a road signal whereas mouthing the lyrics to his traditional 2008 observe. In the caption, Cudi expressed appreciation for followers retaining the music alive.
“Thank u to everyone for posting my song and havin fun and showing love!!!” Cudi wrote. “17 years old and timeless.”

The development for “Maui Wowie” can be traced back to TikTok user @aaronxbrownn, who posted a video of himself hanging from a crosswalk sign on Sept. 5, mouthing the words, “Goin’ back to Honolulu just to get that/That Maui Wowie, that Maui Wowie.”
More users followers in @aaronxbrownn’s footsteps, which led to a full on cultural takeover. The trend’s popularity has even led to the song to return to the chats, too. On Oct. 7, “Maui Wowie” came in at No. 98 on Spotify’s daily songs chart, making it a leap of 22 positions. On that day alone, the song received 390,000 streams.
The popularity of Cudi’s music comes just weeks after he announced to his fans that he has to “step into the shadows” while pursuing his “other dreams” that seemingly don’t involve music.
In September, Cudi released the track “Once” on SoundCloud and left a note for fans, saying that it is intended to be a “goodbye for now song.”
“It was produced by myself with my homie Sebastian addin’ extra sauce here and there. Taking a break but wanted to leave u [with] something special and from the heart. [You’ll] be hearing me featured on my friends’ albums but as far as me, I gotta step into the shadows and focus on my other dreams,” wrote Cudi in the note.
On X earlier that month, Cudi said that he was pondering of taking a “step back” from albums to give attention to appearing, directing, trend, and portray.
